About

  • Location where partial thickness skin layer is taken from the patient’s body
  • Most often taken from thigh
    • Can be other areas of body
  • Commonly painful, sensitive, painful
  • Expect oozing of brown, coffee colored fluid

Dressing Frequency and Care

  • Leave occlusive dressing in place
  • Removed on Day 7 and Day 14
  • Reinforce PRN as these always leak and accumulate fluid
  • Change Prisma/Tegaderm

Troubleshooting

  • If donor site becomes exposed, reinforce with Tegaderm
  • If excessive drainage, reinforce
  • Avoid direct placement of gauze, abd or any other dressing that adhere and be very painful to remove
