- Location where partial thickness skin layer is taken from the patient’s body
- Most often taken from thigh
- Can be other areas of body
- Commonly painful, sensitive, painful
- Expect oozing of brown, coffee colored fluid
Dressing Frequency and Care
- Leave occlusive dressing in place
- Removed on Day 7 and Day 14
- Reinforce PRN as these always leak and accumulate fluid
- Change Prisma/Tegaderm
Troubleshooting
- If donor site becomes exposed, reinforce with Tegaderm
- If excessive drainage, reinforce
- Avoid direct placement of gauze, abd or any other dressing that adhere and be very painful to remove
