Wound Assessment & Evaluation

Wound assessment and evaluation helps the doctor to be able to collect information from you to help develop an effective treatment plan and help to optimize the healing process. The doctor will look at many different things such as past medical history, the wound history and previous treatment plans. During the examination the doctor will be evaluating the wound location, obtain measurements, look at the edges of the wound, tissue characteristics and evaluate the drainage. The doctors may ask about any pain, any infections that you may have had, and any antibiotics that have been taken for helping the wound to heal. The doctors may need to also take pictures to monitor for progression of the wound on the healing journey.
